The Hair is Pretty Much Always Up

August 4, 2008

Ever since I had my daughter almost 2 years ago, I can count on one hand the number of times I have worn my hair down.  For fear of having it yanked out of my head (every mother knows what I am talking about), I have it up in some sort of a clip, ponytail holder, or the long silver skinny thing I call  “the weapon” because I always have to take it out at airport security.  Always on the lookout for something fun to put my hair in, I found these really fun ponytail holders at Plays with Mud.  They make me feel snazzy on even the most boring outfit days.  They come in lots of great fabrics.  Paula Weigel, the shop owner, is quite crafty and has a great variety of goodies on her site.  Head on over!

I recently came across a gorgeous line of eco-friendly gift wrap.  And although this blog is about fashion, we definitely need to wrap our fashionable gifts in style.  All of our jewelry at Georgie Designs comes gift wrapped, but what about when you buy that special someone a shirt to go with that piece of jewelry?  You’ll need some wrap to go with!  Feterie designs a decadent line of eco-friendly gift wrap that is sure to please even the most stylish fashionista.   They also have matching note cards for the perfect ensemble.  Take a look!

The Fall Jewelry has arrived

July 31, 2008

Filed under: Jewelry — admin @ 4:12 pm

The launch of the Fall 2008 Jewelry Collection has been very well received!  The colors this season are fabulous.  Burnt orange, carribean blue, and shitake mushroom, along with the traditional reds and browns of the fall, are so enticing this season.  And living in Phoenix with heat, I am looking forward to the end of summer!  And as I am sure some of you have noticed, I have also been working on some new photography trying to best capture the jewelry.  Jewelry is so hard to photograph, but when buying online, good photos are key.  So I hope to keep improving to help my customers get the best possible view of their favorite pieces!

Also new this Fall, we will be launching new giveaway opportunities and chances to win free jewelry!  So stay tuned for details!

I am getting really excited about launching the new Fall line.  Everything should hopefully be up on the site on Tuesday, July 29.  Here is another sneak peak!

Two of my favorite colors together.  When I saw this tunic from harrilu.com, I just had to put it with one of my favorite high quality blue topaz necklaces.  This beyond reasonably priced tunic is versatile and modern and I love it.

I’m in the middle of taking photos, so I thought I’d post a sneak peak of what is coming for fall.  Burnt orange is going to be a big color this Fall and I am sure I will write about it again, but here is a quick peak at a new bracelet that will be available in a couple of weeks with my Fall line.  More to come!

Turquoise Joy

Turquoise jewelry is is hugely popular this summer.  It is no longer just a symbol of the Southwest.  Turquoise jewelry has made it’s way into mainstream fashion in a bold and contemporary way.  The pieces this season are full of bold color and simple, modern styles.

I have recently become interested in the psychology of color.  The blue’s represent inspiration, tranquility, peace and joy.  Now, who doesn’t need a little more of that in their life?  Here are some goodies from my shop:

There are tons of great fabrics on the market right now that just pop with the color turquoise.  Here are some fabulous handbags from Becky Oh! that will go perfectly with some bold turquoise jewelry.  Becky’s bags are all handmade and unbelieveably reasonable in price, with the wristlets starting at only $20.  Here are a couple of my favorites:

Knock on Wood

July 12, 2008

Filed under: Wood Accessories — admin @ 10:19 am

Would you love to spice up your wardrobe with a summer look that won’t break the bank?  Then look no further than wood jewelry.  It is the perfect compliment to any summer wardrobe.  Wood is an inexpensive alternative to gemstones in jewelry and it is unbelievably lightweight.  You can be all the rage in fashion with an armful of cuff bracelets and rings, and still not break a sweat. Wood is so light to wear, you will forget you have it on.  Even in the heat of an Arizona summer.  The best news is that wood is going to continue to be popular through fall and into 2009.  And if I were the gambling type, I would bet wood accessories are here to stay.

And what better way to compliment your new wood jewelry than new wood shoes!  I happen to be lucky enough to own a pair of Mohop shoes.  These beautifully crafted shoes come in a few different styles with a few different heel heights, so there is a shoe for everyone.  The strapping system allows you to change your ribbons with every outfit.  So you will pretty much never need another pair of shoes.  They are super comfortable and super versatile and they can be worn year round.  So although they are a little expensive (they start at $223), you better believe they are worth every penny.  Check out the many ways you can wear your new wooden gems…Enjoy!
